Refurbishing an Old Roller Mill Part 1

In the winter, we have time to catch up on projects that need done on the farm. Most of the time this involves building fence. This winter, we took a break from fence building focusing our attention on equipment repairs, equipment upgrades, and projects to boost efficiency on the farm. This is one of those efficiency boosting projects. Here you can see an old roller mill from a shut down feed store that we are restoring. We will be able to roll grain much more efficiently moving forward compared to our smaller, gas-powered roller mill. Having a good roller mill is critical for our pastured, grain-finished beef enterprise. We take great pride in our in house operation. We grow the grain, mill it, and feed it all at the same farm.
